About me…

October 27, 2008

I always freeze when I’m asked to talk about myself.  I don’t know why that is but I suspect humility laced with guilt was instilled in me unknowingly during my twelve-year stint in Catholic school.  I’ll answer the question before it’s asked because it usually is: no, I am not Catholic anymore.  I’m one of those secular Americans who calls themselves “spiritual”.

Anyway, back to the facts.  I was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and I lived there until recently when I was offered a position at WITF in Harrisburg.  I really like living in the capitol city because it’s the perfect blend of quiet country, small city, and foodie restaurants.  Honestly, it’s my idea of the perfect city.  And I just love working at WITF.  It’s one of those places where everyone is truly encouraged to participate in the direction of the organization and everyone is geniunely interested in each other.  So I really consider my life just beginning even though I am not particularly young. :)

My educational background is pretty normal but I was a non-traditional student.  So I got late start!  I earned my AS in general studies from Luzerne County Community College.  I really thought at that point I would just go on for a liberal arts degree but my love of marketing and advertising took over.  I earned my BBA from American InterContinential University online.  I really enjoyed that experience and was able to perform well.  And now here I am at West Virginia University online in the IMC program.  I think online education is the way of the future!

I enjoy reading fiction (especially fantasy like the Harry Potter series), listening to Beastie Boys, The Beatles, The Doors, and just about any classic rock music.  I also enjoy classical, big band, and jazz music.  I love Indian food!  And I really enjoy traveling and learning about other cultures.
